Beverly Crusher Actor Teases Star Trek: Picard Appearance

Gates McFadden's Beverly Crusher was essentially a staple of Star Trek: The Next Generation, having played the Enterprise's chief medical officer for six of its seven seasons. The actress also appeared in four Star Trek movies, with 2002's Star Trek Nemesis serving as her last appearance to date. Now, it looks like she'll be heading to Picard as well!

In a recent interview with TrekMovie, McFadden was asked if she has been tapped to appear in the second season of Picard. "Well, I don't know," she said. "There's a good chance, let's put it that way. But I have no contract signed."

Her character became Jean-Luc's love interest later on in the show as well, even sharing a kiss in the series finale. "I think that Patrick made a decision at some point that he was opening it up to other relationships in our show, and in the movies, certainly," McFadden said when asked if their characters' relationship would factor back in. "So I can't imagine that it's suddenly going to be different, but it doesn't mean that there's not a relationship there."

"Obviously, from all of our scenes, there is a relationship and that's great," she continued. "So who knows? I have no clue, but it would be lovely."

Picard picked up with Jean-Luc in his later years as he is set on a new adventure. While most of the cast is comprised of new characters, the first season had some familiar faces from TNG featured as well, so it makes sense if McFadden would make her return. Even though nothing has been made official just yet, the fact that McFadden says there's "a good chance" will surely have some Star Trek fans hyped up!

Star Trek: Picard Season 1 is currently streaming on CBS All Access.
