October has come around again, and it wouldn't be Halloween without some new Fortnite skins to liven up the place. We'll take a look at a few of our favorite skins for this year's Fortnitemares. We'll be looking at some new skins and some old favorites. But if you've never heard of it, what is Fortnitemares?
What is Fortnitemares?
Fortnitemares is Fortnite's own take on Hallowe'en, a big celebration, with a host of rewards and other goodies to look forward to. Over the next few weeks, Fortnite will be revealing new skins and new items regularly. While not everything has been revealed yet, there are already some fantastic skins that we think are worth sharing.
Frankenstein's Monster
If you're looking to go classic, old-school monster, then the Universal Pictures-inspired Frankenstein's Monster is a great choice. He's big, he's green, and something of an icon. He's part of the Universal Monster's Set, which Fortnite has already confirmed will also include The Mummy. Frankenstein's Monster will set you back 1200 V-Bucks.

Boxy and Boxer
Or, if you prefer your skins to look a little more, um, homemade, then Boxy and Boxer have been given the Fortnitemare treatment. Community-inspired, courtesy of @sharktoofs1, these offer a more familiar look. The sort of costume you might have worn to go trick-or-treating, perhaps? 800 V-Bucks for either of these.
Poisonous Big Mouth
First released back in 2019, Big Mouth is returning to Fortnite, and with a strong new look, as Poisonous Big Mouth. And let's be honest, when it comes to a good Hallowe'en look, this pretty much has it nailed. It's a giant mouth, lined with sharp teeth, and the sort of distressing tongue that we'd prefer not to think about. Still seeking victory, breath mints, and souls. At 1500 V-Bucks, this one is towards the top end, but maybe that's the price you pay for all those teeth.
Curdle Scream Leader
What's not to love about Curdle Scream Leader? Part evil teddy, part tomato with a mustache, this is another skin which we really like. He even has an accessory called a ‘Llamabomination'. We award extra points for strong use of the portmanteau. This one is available as a standalone, or can be bought alongside Frankenstein's Monster as part of the Critter Bundle set.

Peely Bone
Next on our list is an old favorite, back again this October. He's a banana, with a skeleton, and an intestine. Which is pretty impressive all by itself. But the icing on the cake is when he decides to play his ribs with the Xylo Bone emote. 1500 V-Bucks gets you this a-peeling skin. Thank you, we're here all week. Try the shrimp.
There are so many fantastic skins to choose from, but we've had to narrow it down to a few of our favorites. There are more to be revealed over the coming days and weeks as well, so there may be some others that we would love to get our hands on. Whichever ones you decide on, Fortnitemares has lots lined up. According to the Fortnite Team, "The Cubes are mobilizing for the next step of their plan. Later in the month, they'll escalate their domination of the Island". What exactly does that mean? We'll just have to wait and see...
