The upcoming second and final season of the Star Wars series Andor will take place in the preceding years closer to the events of Rogue One and fans have been anticipating to see how they will connect to the film.

So far, the team behind the series remains mum on the details surrounding the show's next season, but it will wrap the story of Cassian Andor's origin story as a prominent member of the rebellion.

Now, one of the actors from Rogue One has weighed in on his potential return in the show's highly-anticipated upcoming season.

In an interview with Collider, Ben Mendelsohn addressed his potential return as Orson Krennic in the second season of Andor.

However, he played coy with his response as he didn't give a definitive answer on the possibility of reprising the villainous role.

"Oh, in Andor? Yeah, I mean, maybe? Isn’t it coming to an end? I thought they had, like, five years left to go on that," he said. "Listen, I think Rogue One turned out fantastic. So, hold on. Have they shot it already?"

The Emmy-winning actor went on to joke, "Well, I mean, who knows in that case? Maybe they’ll just do a Krennic backstory, but they'll have to shoot it quick or use a lot of CGI, you know?"

"Krennic the Younger, or something, and then they'll get someone cheaper to play it, I'm sure. I could be there as an advisor to help the younger actor out, and just go, 'Mate... Mate. Mate!' You know?"

Whether Mendelsohn will end up appearing in the second season or not, we can safely bet that his character will be referenced since he is a pivotal figure in the Empire at that point.

Hopefully, he'll make a cameo appearance in the series since it would be another glimpse at the character and a bigger connection to the film as they're getting closer to tackling its events.

The second season of Andor will likely arrive on Disney+ in 2025.
