Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are joining forces to help give freedom and profit-sharing back to artists, directors, and staff members via their production company, Artists Equity.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon both committed an unknown figure to the company. But they also obtained a minimum $100 million loan to fund their latest venture.
Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Open Up About Artists Equity
Following the announcement, Affleck said that launching Artists Equity is the next act of his career for a long time. Jennifer Lopez's husband will also work exclusively for the production company as an actor, director, and producer.
Damon, on the other hand, will produce exclusively for Artists Equity. The latter also opened up about his newest partnership with Affleck.
"[Artists Equity will allow film and TV talent to] take ownership of their creative power, providing a platform for both established and emerging filmmakers to streamline the development of their content," Damon said.
"I know what kind of freedoms artists long for and how they can be empowered — treated like grown-ups. As streamers have proliferated, they have really ended back-end participation, and so this is partly an effort to try to recapture some of that value and share it in a way that's more equitable. Not just writers and directors and stars. But also cinematographers, editors, costume designers, and other crucial artists who, in my view, are very underpaid," Affleck added.

Ben Affleck Reveals One Of His Regrets
Affleck also said that he somehow regrets not launching a company like Artists Equity early on. But now also seems like the perfect time because he's finally ready to do it.
"There was part of me, I have to admit, that was like — come on, these studio guys sit behind desks and make phone calls. The artists are the ones who have to go off and actually make the movie and do all the work. I have already been humbled. But my only regret is that I didn't have the sense of self to try this earlier. Now I feel very ready to do it. I'm right at that period of life where you have enough experience and confidence and self-assuredness," he said.

Meanwhile, other than the launch of his new production company with Damon, Affleck has also been making headlines because of his relationship with Lopez.
Last weekend, the mom of two shared an adorable video of herself and Affleck cuddling with each other.
"Guys, I did it. I found the person that makes me the happiest I have ever been," Lopez set the audio to her TikTok video to a trending audio recording on the platform (via Harper's Bazaar).
