Many fans loved Ben Affleck's portrayal of Batman but the actor has since revealed that that door is probably closed. Affleck is no longer interested in playing the character, but he gave those who have been hoping for his return to the superhero role a glimmer of hope.

In a recent interview with Beliefnet, the interviewer, who is a "life-long" Batman fan, brought up the idea of Affleck returning for the role in twenty years or so like The Dark Knight Returns story to which the actor actually went along with. He joked, "maybe a very old Batman would be interesting. With a walker."

Granted that it isn't exactly an idea that one would expect, this is also possible and was actually incorporated into the Crisis on Infinite Earths plotline. Kevin Conroy, a veteran Batman voice actor, played the role of an aging Bruce Wayne in the epic crossover event.

While the chances of Affleck returning as Batman in twenty years is quite slim, there's no telling what happens in the following years. After all, anything is possible in the cinema. For now, there's a new Batman that fans will be looking forward to seeing.

Robert Pattinson will star in Matt Reeves' upcoming film and Affleck is also looking forward to the Twilight alum's performance. "I think Robert's a great actor," he said. "He's going to do great."
