Batman v Superman Star Jesse Eisenberg Open to Returning as Lex Luthor

Jesse Eisenberg might have had only a couple of appearances in the DC Extended Universe, however, the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice star is very willing to reprise his role as DC's Lex Luthor.

Speaking in an interview with The National, Eisenberg was asked whether Lex Luthor had a place in Warner Brothers' plans for the future of the DCEU. While Lex Luthor had a large part to play in Dawn of Justice, the Superman villain had very little to do with Justice League. Appearing in the post-credits scene of the comic book movie, Lex is seen trying to form a team of villains together with Deathstroke (Joe Manganello).

While the post-credits sequence for Justice League seemed to tease the establishment of the Legion of Doom, the future of Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), and Lex Luthor seems to be rather unclear.

Eisenberg would be willing to reprise the role though, saying that he'd love to play Lex Luthor forever.

"Oh yeah, are you kidding? I would love it. That's the coolest role to play. I don't even know if they know what they're doing with the movies, but for me it was exhilarating," the actor told the entertainment news outlet, "I would love to play that role forever. I have no knowledge about what they're doing with it. […] You can do anything [with the character] and it's right. You can be as funny, as dramatic, as crazed, as sensitive [as you want]. The character is open to any interpretation. It's not a prescribed, acceptable role that the audience feels they have to like or see themselves in, so that's the kind of freeing role that actors like. Will they let me do it again? I have no idea. But that's the kind of thing I love."

It's such a shame that WB's plans for certain DCEU characters remain unclear. Let's hope that the studio brings back Superman, Batman, Lex, and the others in another DC movie.
