Batgirl Won’t Be in Birds of Prey Because She’s Getting Her Own Movie

DC fans might be disappointed that Batgirl won't be part of Harley's (Margot Robbie) team in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) but it looks like the heroine might get her own standalone movie in DC.

Speaking in an interview with ComicBook.com during the publication's visit on the set of Birds of Prey, DC producer Sue Kroll confirmed Batgirl's absence from the female team-up movie, saying that the heroine has her own standalone movie going for her.

"You'll not see Batgirl. I'm just going to say no. This is a studio thing. Batgirl is in development for her own film," the producer replied when asked about the possibility of seeing Batgirl in Birds of Prey.

For the uninitiated, the fan-favorite Birds of Prey team actually has Batgirl as its leader, not Harley. Not only is she the leader, but she's always been the moral compass of the team, whether Barbara goes out as Batgirl or as the Oracle.

Fans were hoping to see Barbara make her DC Expanded Universe debut in Birds of Prey (And The Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) but it seems like we're not going to get any of that in the team-up movie.

Still, it's exciting to hear that Batgirl is going to get her own solo movie over at DC. It might take a while, but we're excited to see Barbara make her way into the DCEU. We wonder if she'll team-up with Batman in the movie, or if she'll be working on her own as the Oracle.

Birds of Prey (And the Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to premiere on February 7, 2020.
