There is little doubt that people are constantly waiting for updates on Batgirl considering that the upcoming HBO Max flick seems to be shrouded in secrecy. However, the latest update on the film comes from none other than Barbara Gordon herself. Leslie Grace has just revealed the identity of Jacob Scipio's mystery character and it looks like he is playing someone who appears in the comic books!
Leslie Grace has been understandably excited about Batgirl which is currently in production. So it's no surprise that the In The Heights star can't stop talking about working on the project as well as her co-stars. During an interview with E! Online, Grace happily talked about working with Michael Keaton, who will play Batman in the movie. In addition to that, she reportedly confirmed that Jacob Scipio will portray mob boss Anthony Bressi.
Anthony "Tough Tony" Bressi is an interesting character to introduce in Batgirl. Although he is a mob boss operating in Gotham City, he is also an occasional informant to Batman despite the two having opposite views. With that in mind, there is a possibility that Tough Tony could also work with Barbara Gordon instead of being a straight-out bad guy in the film.
There were speculations that Jacob Scipio might be playing a completely new character created just for the movie. However, the Bad Boys for Life actor had previously confirmed that he will portray a DC comic book character.
Batgirl is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a screenplay by Christina Hodson. The film will introduce Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon while J. K. Simmons reprises his role as Commissioner Jim Gordon. Brendan Fraser has been cast as Firefly and Ivory Aquino is confirmed to play Barbara Gordon's best friend Alysia Yeoh.
