Batgirl Co-Director Hits Back at DC Fans Criticizing Leslie Grace's Costume Reveal

tIn case you missed it, Leslie Grace has shared our first look at her Batsuit in the upcoming Batgirl movie. Although fans are sharing their excitement about Barbara Gordon finally getting her own film, people are also unhappy with the way the costume looks. Now, co-director Adil El Arbi is hitting back at the negative criticism about the new suit!

Leslie Grace recently shared the first image of Barbara Gordon's Batsuit on her social media accounts. It was clear that the In The Heights star was excited to share an update on Batgirl and her followers were quick to support her. However, the photo also ended up being one of the main reasons why the hashtag #BoycottWB was trending on Twitter.

All the negative feedback about the less-than-impressive Batgirl costume led to Adil El Arbi reacting in kind. The co-director of the HBO Max film shared a Batman meme on his Instagram stories to get his point across to the fandom.

First of all, the Batgirl suit only takes points for being comic-accurate. However, it looks like it still needs a lot of work and is far from done. Hopefully, El Arbi is right about waiting for the film before judging its appearance and that the final suit will look much better than it does right now.

Batgirl will be directed by El Arbi and Bilall Fallah while Christina Hodson wrote the screenplay. The film will star Grace as Barbara Gordon and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Jim Gordon. They will be joined by Brendan Fraser who will play Firefly and Michael Keaton who will return as Bruce Wayne aka Batman.

The film will also star Jacob Scipio, Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai who have all been cast in undisclosed roles. Batgirl is still in production and has not yet been an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
