Bae Suzy will be starring in a back-to-back K-drama this 2022.

After confirming to star in Coupang Play's Anna, the singer-actress is selected as one of the lead stars in the upcoming webtoon-based series.

Bae Suzy's New Drama Might Be Netflix's The Girl Downstairs

In a report cited by Sports Chosun, the 27-year-old star is in talks to join the official cast of the Netflix series The Girl Downstairs.

Bae Suzy's agency, Management SOOP, confirmed that they have received the casting offer and are "reviewing" the proposal.

If the Vagabond star accepts the offer, she is set to take the female lead, Lee Du Na.

It follows the story of a former idol who unexpectedly meets a university freshman named Lee Won Joon. Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the duo ends up living in shared housing.

In the upcoming Netflix series, Du Na is the main vocalist of the girl group Dream Sweet, whose character is very unpredictable.

At the height of her career, she has decided to take a different path and announced her retirement. Following her surprising decision, she then became a part of Minsong University's Theater and Film department.

Bae Suzy is expected to deliver a stellar performance playing Lee Du Na with her charm, talent, and background as a former Miss A member.

Based on the popular Naver webtoon written by Songah Min, The Girl Downstairs will be helmed by Romance is a Bonus Book, Life on Mars and Crash Landing on You director Lee Jung Hyo.

Bae Suzy’s Comeback Drama Anna

The casting offer comes ahead of Bae Suzy's K-drama comeback, Anna.

Last seen in tvN's hit romantic-comedy series Start-Up with Nam Joo Hyuk and good boy Kim Seon Ho, where she took the role of a budding entrepreneur, Seo Dal Mi.

Interestingly, the upcoming K-drama will be far different from the 2020 blockbuster series.

In July 2021, Soompi reported that she is set to return to the small screen with a thriller drama Anna.

The reason why the singer-actress has decided to take the role is due to the storyline and trust with director Lee Joo Young.

Moreover, the outlet also shared that the upcoming K-drama was initially planned to be released as a film but will be an 8-part-episode series because of its unique plot.

Bae Suzy's new drama follows the story of a woman who seemed to have a dissocial personality disorder known as "Ripley Syndrome."

The main character, Anna, enjoys living someone else's life and is attached to her fictional world.

Apart from the Hallyu star, Anna cast includes The King: Eternal Monarch actress Jung Eun Chae, Park Ye Young and Kim Joon Han.

Interestingly, after teasing fans with the powerful cast lineup and intriguing plot, reports noted that the upcoming series is slated to hit the small screen this 2022 and will be aired via Coupang Play.
