Backflip!! continues to be the anime series that it seems most people have chosen to sleep on, which is a criminal shame!
In the latest episode, the two high schools begin their friendly joint training session, but it doesn't go smoothly at first. Due to two members of the team being new, the Ao high school team isn't fluid yet and finds themselves putting on a shameful performance (their words, not mine) in front of the other school's team. On the way home, however, the captain has a bolt of inspiration that gets them all on the right page!
A wonderful sports series that looks as good as the story feels, it's a disappointment that so few people are giving this series a real chance.

Airing in the wee hours of the morning on Fridays in Japan, outside of Japan the series appears every Thursday which has the next episode coming out on May 6th, 2021.

The series airs at 12:55 am Japan Standard Time but streams on Crunchyroll a couple of hours later. This translates into the following times:
Pacific Time: 11:15 am
Central Time: 1:15 pm
Eastern Time: 2:15 pm
British Time: 7:15 pm
Backflip continues to be one of my favorite shows of the spring 2021 season, and it wounds me to the quick to see so few people marking this one as something worth watching on both Anime-Planet and MyAnimeList. I mean, it has pretty characters, a sweet story about a guy finding his place in a new world, and gorgeous gymnastics choreography? What more could you possibly want?
I feel strongly that this series will end up becoming one of my favorites of the year (though the competition will be tight for certain) and will probably get a place on my annual list of "why didn't you watch this?" series.
There's definitely room for this series to grow, however, but I'm not afraid to say that I am absolutely on board for the entire ride!
