Avengers: Endgame Writers Reveal Why Hulk Scene Was Removed From Final Cut

People certainly saw a different Hulk in Avengers: Endgame. In the film, it was revealed that Bruce Banner managed to unite the strength of the Big Green Guy with his own brain, creating Professor Hulk. The character's first scene in Endgame immediately introduces Professor Hulk without too much drama but he was initially supposed to have an action-packed debut.

The re-release of Endgame features some amazing new content like a special message from the Russo brothers and a tribute to Stan Lee. In addition to that, there is a deleted scene which appears to be unfinished. The scene shows the heroic side of Professor Hulk and an awesome Die Hard cameo.

In the scene, firefighters watch as the Hulk saves people from a burning building by putting them on a satellite dish. He then tells the firefighters how to extinguish the fire and it's confirmed that we are now looking at Professor Hulk. Interestingly, the fire chief happens to be played by Die Hard actor Reginald VelJohnson.

It would have been an awesome scene but why was it deleted? Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had spoken about this with The Los Angeles Times.

"You never know what's actually going to make it out into the world," Markus said. "We did have a scene illustrating more actively what the Hulk had been up to in terms of being a hero, as opposed to just starting it in the diner and explaining things. But it didn't give you anything that you didn't get from just sitting in the diner eating pancakes. And it came off more as noise than as content."

"It takes us forever to learn these things. But if the scene is not doing more than one thing, it's probably not worthy of being in the movie," McFeely added.

Sadly, the scene didn't make it into the original theatrical cut of Endgame. Nevertheless, it's a great scene to see when watching the film again during its re-release this weekend.
