Avengers: Endgame Writer Says 'Losses Are Real', Film Won't Reboot The MCU

People already have certain expectations about Avengers: Endgame. For one, there have been several theories about how the survivors will go back in time to stop Thanos before he could snap his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War. However, one of the Endgame writers says that's just not happening and that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will not be magically rebooted in the film.

Christopher Markus certainly knows more about the MCU than the rest of us. After all, he and Stephen McFeely have written all of the Captain America movies as well as Infinity War. With that in mind, Markus revealed that there's a good reason why most of the heroes were killed off in the third Avengers film. He also pointed out that we probably shouldn't expect any resurrections in Endgame.

"The MCU continues to exist. What happens to be in it is a fluid and evolving thing where, because it's all connected, you can't reboot one. All the parts have to work together. Things continue, but like life, losses are real, and change is real," Markus told Empire magazine (via ComicBook.com).

Ouch. That certainly stings for fans who were expecting to see the dusted members of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy to come back to life in Endgame. Nevertheless, people are hopeful about what will happen in the fourth Avengers movie.

There's still that theory where half of the universe actually ended up in a different dimension. This could mean that the only ones we truly lost were the ones who were actually killed by Thanos in Infinity War. (This probably means goodbye Loki and Gamora).

The synopsis for Endgame reads as follows:

"The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios' grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame."

Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters on April 26.
