Avengers: Endgame Tracking For Thanos-Sized Opening

Avengers: Endgame's opening weekend tracking is in, and it looks like the film is set to break box office records the moment it hits the big screen later this month.

Projections for the second entry in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie is already in, and it looks like the film is set for a Thanos-sized opening weekend haul. According to The Hollywood Reporter, analysts expect Avengers: Endgame to open from "anywhere from $200 million to $250 million" at the domestic box office.

That's a whole lot of cash. In comparison, Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame's predecessor, was expected to open somewhere between $185 million to $225 million at the domestic box office. The film of course broke those projections, raking in $257.6 million during its opening.

If Endgame were to follow the same trajectory, then we can see the film raking in more than the higher upper limit of these projections.

The film is also expected to do significantly well worldwide. Analysts are estimating that Endgame could open "in the $750 million - $800 million range worldwide" because of the Marvel entry's same day debut in China, the global box office's largest market. These projections are significantly higher compared to Infinity War which gathered $640.5 million at the global box office during its opening.

Of course, these numbers shouldn't come as a surprise to fans. Endgame is one of the most highly anticipated films this year. Not only does the film pose as the final chapter to the Russo's two-part Avengers movie, but it also serves as the culmination of the past ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
