Avengers: Endgame Reel Features Deleted Trench Scene From The Climactic Battle

Avengers: Endgame just completed its theatrical release this month and now the film is headed for its Digital HD release next week.

Now, thanks to a newly released Endgame gag reel (via Entertainment Weekly), netizens get to take a look at a deleted scene from the film's epic, action-heavy climax when all of the members of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy come together with Asgard and Wakanda's warriors to fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army.

The deleted scene is teased by Endgame's gag reel, and in it we get to see Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt botch up his entrance while Captain America (Chris Evans) converges together with the rest of the team showing Spider-Man (Tom Holland), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) who seems to have the Infinity Gauntlet with him.

We also get to see stand-ins for Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and for Gamora (Zoe Saldana). The scene was later on deleted because Endgame writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus felt like the entire meet0up seemed "completely fake" and unnatural to see.

Speaking in an interview with The New York Times, McFeely opens up about the deleted trench scene.

"It didn't play well, but we had a scene in a trench where, for reasons, the battle got paused for about three minutes and now there's 18 people all going, ‘What are we going to do?' ‘I'm going to do this.' ‘I'm going to do this,'" the writer revealed. "Just bouncing around this completely fake, fraudulent scene. When you have that many people, it invariably is, one line, one line, one line. And that's not a natural conversation."

The awkwardness of the scene can definitely be seen in the snippet for the gag reel. We wonder just how strange it felt for everyone on set when the scene played out.

Of course, we're going to see it all play out with the rest of Endgame's deleted scenes when the film releases on Digital HD on July 30 next week.
