Avengers: Endgame Finally Beats Avatar As Top Grossing Film Of All Time

It's turning out to be a huge weekend for Marvel as it has announced the studio's upcoming projects at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. However, there's also a huge victory for Marvel this week. It has been confirmed that Avengers: Endgame has finally beaten Avatar as the top-grossing film of all time with a massive $2.7892 billion global haul.

The news was dropped at SDCC while Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was busy announcing the new slate of Marvel Cinematic Universe projects (via Forbes). It's the perfect cherry on top of the cake considering all the huge announcements from the studio this weekend.

Walt Disney Studios co-chairman Alan Horn had an awesome message for the cast and crew of Endgame.

"A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted Avengers: Endgame to these historic heights," he said in a statement.

As of Saturday night, Endgame has already earned $2.7892 billion in raw grosses compared to Avatar's $2.7897 billion haul. This means that the Marvel film is still about $500,000 away from its goal but that should be easily reached by Sunday.

Endgame has managed to catch up to the James Cameron film with a little boost from the recent re-release to over 2,000 theaters ahead of the Fourth of July weekend. There is little doubt that the movie will continue to earn more so it could easily surpass Avatar in the following week.
