It looks like Avatar: The Last Airbender voice actor Dante Basko wants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as one of the X-Men.
Speaking in an interview with Comic Book Movie to promote his upcoming interactive and scripted science-fiction series Artificial: Remote Intelligence, Basco was asked whether he'd be interested in joining the MCU and what roles he'd like to play in the Marvel film franchise.
It seems like the popular Avatar voice actor is interested in being part of Marvel's iteration of the X-Men, saying that he'd love to either lend his voice as a mutant or act in a movie.
"You know I'd love to voice or act in X-Men. Being a person of color growing up, the stories always rang true to me that mutants aren't outcasts but instead to focus on what makes them special," Basco told the entertainment news outlet, "Something in the X-Men world would be great. I was a big fan of Wolverine, of course, like everybody else. But I'm also a big fan of Nightcrawler. I love seeing the different iterations and I'm curious to see what happens now that Disney bought FOX and they got the IP back."
Basco would definitely be able to do great voice work if he played Nightcrawler.
Unfortunately, Marvel has yet to announce its plans for the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Deadpool, and all of the other mutant characters that Disney acquired after the studio purchased 21st Century Fox. There have been various rumors and reports circulating online, however, Marvel has yet to make an official announcement regarding its plans for the X-Men.
That hasn't stopped fans from casting their favorite actors and actresses in various X-Men roles though. Let's cross our fingers and hope that Marvel lets the X-Men into the MCU soon.
Phase 4 of the MCU is set to begin once Black Widow premieres on November 6, 2020.
