Coming back to Pandora in Avatar: The Way of Water will be Stephen Lang who plays Colonel Miles Quaritch in the first film and with fans casting the actor for the role of Thunderbolt Ross following the demise of William Hurt, he reveals that he is not campaigning for any Marvel role.
Deadpool 2 witnessed the debut of Cable on screen as Josh Brolin, after portraying Thanos in the MCU, suited up as another Marvel character. Stephen Lang learned something from Brolin's casting as he, sort of, campaigned for being Cable.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Stephen Lang clears the air and raises the fans casting him as Thunderbolt Ross following the demise of William Hurt who played the role previously. The role of Ross has been said to be opened for a recast and some fans want Lang to be Ross.
Stephen Lang was asked if he was campaigning for the role and he said, "No, and I've learned to keep my mouth shut about stuff like that. As you well know, I put out one tweet years ago about saying, 'Sure, I'll play Cable,' and it became all of a sudden, 'Lang is campaigning for the role' and everything."
Lang isn't the only one being fan-casted for the same role as Harrison Ford is also a top choice of the fans for General Ross, "So all I can say is that I think Harrison Ford is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful actor, you know?"
Lang jokingly said that he was just waiting for a phone call that may never arrive, "I await the call from the ghost of Stan Lee, that's all I can say."

Stephen Lang will be back to Pandora as Colonel Miles Quaritch, but this time, in his Na'vi form. Thought to have died in the first movie, Colonel Quaritch coming back in his Na'vi form makes sense after he was impaled by a giant poison arrow in the first Avatar film.
Avatar: The Way of Water will have a time-jump as it will be set years after the events of the first film. It will feature Jake Sully and Neytiri having children Neteyam, Lo'ak, and Tuktirey, and their adopted kids, Spider, a human, and Kiri, a teenage Na'vi.
Colonel Miles Quaritch returns in Avatar: The Way of Water in theaters on December 16, 2022.
