Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Yeoh revealed, "So, yes, I am in the Avatar sequels and as you know we can't really talk very much about it." Yeoh continued, "But it's James Cameron! Come on! I would be the tea lady for James Cameron! We shot for a few weeks, and I was so impressed with the work that he's done, the work that he's doing, the energy. He's a genius, he's a walking genius. And I really really enjoyed the experience and I can't wait to go back soon, I hope."

Thankfully, it looks like Michelle Yeoh won't just have a minor role for Avatar 2, but will still continue to reprise her role in the upcoming Avatar 3, 4, and 5. In an interview last year, director James Cameron shared some progress about the upcoming sequels, including Avatar 2. Cameron revealed, "2 is fully in the can. We have a working cut that we're filling in the visual effects within. I feel pretty confident with that film. 3 is still a bit shadowy. It's way too long. I haven't really turned my energy into a disciplined cutting process on that yet. But I know I've got the performances. That's the important thing. I've done all the capture. I've done most of the live-action shooting. I still owe a little bit on some of the adult characters. We were more concerned with the kids aging out."

To add to the sequel's continuously growing hype, Avatar lead star Zoe Saldaña who will be reprising her role as Neytiri has previously shared her own emotional response to the sequel, after seeing a 20-minute teaser of the film.

"I can get choked up just talking about it because I was able to see just 20 minutes of the second installment right before the year ended last year, and I was speechless. I was moved to tears," she said in March this year. I think you really have to brace yourself for it, but it's going to be an adventure that you will not forget."

The Avatar sequel is one of the highly-anticipated films slated for 2022, and after a decade long of waiting, James Cameron's Avatar 2 will finally premiere in theaters on December 16, 2022.
