Bates would be the perfect choice to play Granny Goodness. Additionally, this isn't the first time that her name has been connected to New Gods. A fan had previously reached out to DuVernay with a list of possible actresses to take on the role of the supervillain. One of those actors just happened to be Bates.

So is it possible that DuVernay took the fan's suggestion seriously? For now, Bates' casting has not yet been confirmed. However, it may only be a matter of time before Warner Bros. and DC announces the cast of New Gods.

Granny Goodness is one of the few characters that have been confirmed to appear in DuVernay's film. Created by Jack Kirby, she is depicted in the comic books as a member of Darkseid's elite who possesses superhuman strength and agility. Needless to say, it would be exciting to see her in action soon.

For now, New Gods is still in early development. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
