Armin holds onto a seashell, where he recounts the events that happened three years ago to a listener who wasn't shown at first. It went to some flashbacks of a Marleyan scouting vessel. The ship approaches Paradis Island. As the Marley forces are preparing to land, the captain informs Marley of the island's situation.

Out of nowhere, the Attack Titan came out of the sea, lifting the ship up, before crashing it down. Hange enthusiastically welcomes the soldiers, inviting them to have some tea. Hange and Levi bring in a Marley soldier from the vessel's advances party, begging the captain to shoot the two.

The captain refuses to listen to Hange and berated them as devils. Hange reminded them of Eren's titan who was standing behind him, asking how he plans on escaping. The captain refuses to surrender and raises his weapons when a sudden shot is heard.

Everyone is in shock as the captain falls over dead. The killer turns out to be Yelena which was previously introduced in Assassin's Bullet, along with Onyankopon. The two order the others to surrender their weapons and accepts Hange's invitation for a cup of tea. Yelena stares at Eren's titan and states that she wanted to meet him.

The members of the Survey Corps look from afar, they wonder who the woman was and if she can be trusted. Eren admits that they were fortunate to stop the ship from landing or else the full naval force would be able to beat them.

Yelena and Onyankopon show Hange their weapons. The two explain that their equipment is standard weapons used by Marleyan soldiers. They also told explained that they have one million capable soldiers, as well as three fleets with 21 battleships.

The two admit that Marley is truly capable of attacking Paradis from the air as well. Hange asks why they have not come to destroy Paradis Island with their capability. Yelena reveals that Marley has many enemies and believes that Paradis is contained by the titans.

Levi made a remark that they were already able to kill all the titans on the island which amazed Yelena. Hange theorizes that Yelena and Onyankopon are spies who infiltrated the Marley military. Yelena admits that they forced to go in but Zeke gave them a purpose and hope.

There was an assembly where the military heads were gathered. Hange gives Zeke's demands in exchange for him helping the Eldians and sharing technology weapons. Zeke also helped in starting relations with Paradis Island and other countries fighting against Marley.

Several members of the military objected as they see Zeke as an enemy, Darius Zackly says that they will not easily relent to peaceful talks after such a long time at war. Dot Pixis advises the other military leaders to listen to the terms first before deciding the next step.

When Zeke's secret plan is brought up, Eren admits his encounter with Dina Fritz and how he was able to control pure titans. Levi asks Eren why he stayed silent with this information, he said that he was afraid of Historia's safety due to the unreliability of his information at the time Hange and Levi are both disappointed with Eren hiding the information from them.

Hange says that it falls in line with Zeke's plan. Nile Dok is against the plan with other Military Police members chiming in, calling for Yelena's execution because of her being untrustworthy. Hange insists that they need the technology and the forces to help them.

Yelena later utilizes her wireless communication to contact the second Marleyan survey fleet, arriving on the island. As the fleet arrives, Armina and two other soldiers wait behind a rock. As three Marleyan rescue boats attempt to come near the ship, Armin transforms into his Colossal Titan.

The cowering crew is left with no choice and jump out of the ship. They swim to shore, only to be met by Levi and the Survey Corps with guns pointed at them, to take them as prisoners.

Over the next years, Armin's Colossal Titan and Eren's Attack Titan assisted in destroying or capturing the Marleyan ships whenever they approach the island. Both sides share information, technology, and train. Armin, Eren, and Mikasa are in a shooting-range where Armin says that both sides are getting to know each other, adding that the harbor will be finished soon which means they can travel across the ocean.

Eren asks Armin if he can see anything useful in Bertolt's memories. Eren adds that his brother only has three years left to live. Armin responds that there is nothing useful he can see in Bertolt's memories.

Armin sadly says that the course of action they were going to take will lead to more deaths. He hopes there is a more peaceful way to resolve the misunderstandings.

Eren answers that the rest of the world sees them as monsters, while the Marley soldiers look at their walls with contempt. Eren says that in order to buy them more time, Paradis Island must do something to make sure that there will be no interference.

Back in the present time, the airship carrying the Survey Corps, as well as Zeke, Gabi, and Falco arrives in Paradis Island. The survivors prepare to bury their deceased colleagues, including Sasha.

The Military Police transfers Gabi and Falco to their custody. Everyone present looks solemn with sorrowful looks, except Eren who walks away. Armin says that despite trying to understand Eren more than anyone else, he no longer knows who Eren is anymore. Both sides shared the same fate, total destruction, and death by an enemy force attacking their land.

Armin knows that Marley will retaliate soon. He says that any path to reconciliation is no longer plausible. He looks up to the person he is talking to, which turns out to be Annie, who is still encased in her crystal. Armin begs Annie to respond to him in some way.

Meanwhile, Zeke tells Levi that the Paradis Island citizens are calling it a victory without knowing anything. Levi states that he will send Zeke back to Marley in pieces, adding that he is willing to wait until the secret plan is administered. Zeke thanks Levi and asks if he will see Eren soon, adding that Levi is still glaring at him.

In the meantime, Mikasa is seen leaning on a tombstone looking towards the future, stating that the Eldians and the Paradis Island will survive if they fight. In another location, Eren is washing himself, while echoing what Mikasa said. He strengthens his resolve to fight some more and win the upcoming battles.
