Attack on Titan Episode 78: Is Eren Yeager Dead?

There is little doubt that the latest episode of Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 is one of the most shocking ones so far, thanks to Gabi's sharp-shooting skills. In Episode 78, Reiner Braun tried his best to keep Eren Yeager from reaching the Beast Titan. Although Zeke Yeager still managed to make contact with Eren, it was all for a great and tragic cost that had fans absolutely shocked. So does this mean Eren Yeager is officially dead long before the conclusion of Attack on Titan: The Final Season?

Attack on Titan Episode 78: Is Eren Yeager Truly Dead?

In Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 19, the fight continued although the Beast Titan had been severely injured and had fallen from the wall. Eren manages to injure Porco Galliard but is pinned down by Reiner who is determined to keep him from making contact with Zeke.

This is when Zeke decides it is time to summon the Titans. Although Colt Grice pleads with Zeke to wait until his young brother Falco is out of range, Zeke screams anyway, causing chaos in every corner. While Reiner is distracted, Eren escapes from the Titan body and rushes towards Zeke, who has done the same.

Reiner is unable to stop Eren but Gabi manages to get hold of Colt's anti-Titan rifle and decapitates Eren with one shot. However, Zeke manages to catch Eren's head and make contact so they end up in the Paths.

Attack on Titan Episode 78: Will Eren Yeager Survive?

The episode concluded with Zeke desperately trying to make Eren understand his goal after it is confirmed that his brother had no intention of going through with their plan. But does this mean Eren will survive after what happens in the Paths? Zeke himself confirmed that he caught Eren's head before his brother died. Nevertheless, we haven't seen the last of Eren just yet.

Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 20 is titled Memories of the Future ("Mirai no Kioku") and takes its name after Chapter 121 in the manga. Episode 79 will air on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 12:05 AM JST.
