Arrow is nearing its end with the looming conclusion of its eighth season and the much-awaited Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover coming January next year. And with it comes its lead actor Stephen Amell hoping to return to one of his former passions: wrestling. The Oliver Queen actor is most notably remembered for his rivalry with Cody Rhodes and Neville and King Barrett, who all fought each other back in 2015's Summerslam.
Amell won a Slammy for Celebrity Moment of the Year after diving onto Rhodes that same year and match. Four years later, the actor is set to return to the WWE, but not in the ring. The WWE's official page took to Twitter to confirm the actor's return as a guest star via a talk show WWE Backstage.
BREAKING:
The star of @CW_Arrow, and former SummerSlam competitor, @StephenAmell will go to 'Promo School' on @WWE Backstage this Tuesday at 11p ET on @Fs1. #WWEStarrcadepic.twitter.com/CfzoFUgIer
The 38-year-old actor is set to appear in Promo School through the show, similar to that of David Arquette, Adam Jonas, Gabriel Iglesias, and LaVar Arrington. The show is hosted by Renee Young and Booker T.
As for whether or not the actor will return to wrestling entirely remains to be seen. Amell has expressed his wife's qualms about the sport in the past but has also shared his interest in exploring the idea after Arrow wraps up.
During a panel interview at MegaCon earlier this year, the actor was quoted to have said: "I'm not gonna be doing any wrestling until -- is my wife here? I'm not gonna be doing any wrestling, honey! No, I might do something again with him but not until I'm done with the show."
