Arknights: Prelude to Dawn is a unique anime that gained a sizeable following in Fall 22, enough that a sequel was confirmed soon after its finale. Officially known as Arknights: Perish in Frost, the release date of Arknights Season 2 is finally announced, and it's coming out soon!

Arknights Season 2: Perish in Frost Confirmed After Prelude to Dawn
While many anime based on video games get a bad rap and don't end up going too far, fans were pleased when the sequel to Arknights: Prelude to Dawn was greenlit almost immediately after its eight-episode run.
The news was announced on the series' official X (formerly Twitter) account. It was also confirmed that Yostar Pictures is back to produce the second season.
Not much is known about its plot yet, especially since it's based on a video game rather than a more conventional written source.
However, VAs Yuki Kaida (also China in Hetalia Axis Powers) and Tomoyo Kurosawa (also Mitsumi Iwakura in Skip and Loafer) have been confirmed as returning cast members for the roles of the Doctor and Amiya, respectively.
In the finale of Arknights: Prelude to Dawn, Amiya had to kill Skullshatterer, who turned out to be young Misha's brother.
Following that event, a traumatized Misha lost faith in Amiya and eventually replaced her brother and took over the identity of Skullshatterer.
This will mean interesting conflict for the next season, as the Rhodes Island group will likely have to fight the young girl they initially set out to protect.

Arknights: Perish in Frost Release Date and Details
Arknights Season 2: Perish in Frost is confirmed to release on October 6, 2023. The second season's release date was revealed in a new preview video that contains details about its theme songs and Japanese premiere.
The new opening song is titled ACHE in PULSE by the Japanese pop-rock band MYTH & ROID, who also performed the ending theme for Overlord titled L.L.L.
Meanwhile, the ending song, R.I.P., is performed by ReoNa, a Japanese singer who is also known for being the voice of Elsa Kanzaki in Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online.
The sequel was announced in mid-December 2022, shortly after the first season's finale, so it's quite surprising that the second season is coming out in less than ten months after the first.
When a sequel is announced right after the season finale, two years is normally about the maximum waiting time we would expect if things run smoothly.
The second season's relatively fast release compared to most shows indicates that Arknights is likely a successful project, given that the series made its TV debut in 2019 with an ONA.
Where to Watch Arknights Season 2
Arknights: Perish in Frost will premiere in Japan on October 6, 2023, via TV Tokyo and TV Osaka. The series will also be broadcast later on Animax and BS11.
Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream the second season after the first, Arknights: Prelude to Dawn, was streamed on the platform.
