Aquaman Star Amber Heard Responds To Johnny Depp's $50 Million Defamation Lawsuit

It looks like Johnny Depp has realized that his divorce from Amber Heard deserves a second look. The Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald star has just filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against the Aquaman actress. Interestingly, Heard has responded to the lawsuit by calling it "frivolous."

According to Entertainment Tonight, Depp insisted that Heard's claims of domestic abuse were "an elaborate hoax" and that she herself is the "perpetrator." In addition to that, the claims suggest that Heard was already having "an improper relationship" with Elon Musk while the two were still married.

Heard's lawyers have since responded to the lawsuit. Her attorney Eric M. George insisted that the claims are simply trying to silence Heard.

"This frivolous action is just the latest of Johnny Depp's repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard," George said. "She will not be silenced."
"Mr. Depp's actions prove he is unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behavior," he continued. "But while he appears hell-bent on achieving self-destruction, we will prevail in defeating this groundless lawsuit and ending the continued vile harassment of my client by Mr. Depp and his legal team."

Depp and Heard were married in 2015 but were immediately divorced after two years.

There are speculations that Depp blames Heard's claims about domestic abuse for tarnishing his career. Although the actor is set to return in the third Fantastic Beasts film, he has been fired from the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. Some believe that Depp takes pride in his involvement in the Disney franchise but feels that Heard's claims had led to his firing.
