It can't be denied that the success of James Wan's first Aquaman film was a monumental win for the entire DC Extended Universe as not only did it prove the franchise's capability of performing extremely well at the box office, it also served as a gateway for fans to have a renewed faith and appreciation for the character who has always been portrayed all across media in the silliest ways imaginable.

With over 1 billion dollars of box office revenue under its belt, it already came as a no-brainer for Warner Bros. to capitalize on the buzz it was able to generate which is why the studio immediately greenlit a sequel. Speaking of, Aquaman 2 is reportedly set to begin filming this Summer and while we still don't know much about the film's overall plot, Wan is already hyping up the release of the project.

Taking to social media, the renowned horror filmmaker stunned fans when he unveiled the official title of the second Aquaman film. On Instagram, Wan revealed that the project will be called Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Check it out here:

Judging by the title alone, it's already safe to assume where Arthur Curry's quest will lead him next. The real question is, what exactly is the "lost kingdom" the title is referring to? We all know that in the DCEU and in other fictional literature, Atlantis is dubbed as the lost kingdom but given the fact that the surface world is already aware of its existence, I don't think it's the place the title is alluding to. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is slated for release in December 2022.
