Meanwhile, Maomao’s mother is all but confirmed in the anime to be Fengxian, a former high-ranking courtesan in the Verdigris House.
Currently, Fengxian is bedridden due to syphilis. Thus, some fans believe that the resurrection medicine may be able to help her.
The Apothecary Diaries Fans Think the Resurrection Medicine Can Help Fengxian
A recent episode showed an interesting conversation between Maomao and Suirei. There, Suirei hinted at a possible resurrection medicine.
As Maomao is interested in all things medicine, the possibility interested her, though it also prompted fans to think about how useful it can be to help Maomao’s mother.
There is logic to this if the resurrection medicine is indeed true, though using it may be overkill given that Fengxian’s syphilis cure is an antibiotic. Unless, of course, Maomao’s mom dies in the anime.
Moreover, it’s not clear how Maomao feels about Fengxian in the anime. After all, Maomao has suffered abuse from her mom growing up.

What Happens to Maomao’s Mom in The Apothecary Diaries?
The fate of Maomao’s mom differs depending on which version you read. For instance, she suffers a cruel fate in the original web novel. Meanwhile, she has a bittersweet ending with Lakan in the light novel series.
Neither of these fates involves the resurrection medicine. Thus, the medicine likely won’t play a role in the continuing story of Fengxian in the anime.
Still, it’ll be interesting to see how Fengxian’s story will play out in the anime, though fans will need to wait a while longer to see it based on The Apothecary Diaries anime’s recent events.
