Avengers: Endgame surely exceeded everyone's expectations with its action-packed and nerve-wracking sequences and even shattering box-office records in the process. Although a lot of theories and predictions were already proven and debunked when Endgame came out in theaters, it still ended up leaving the audience with more questions to ask and theories to prove.

During the conclusion of Endgame when Steve Rogers traveled back in time to return the Infinity Stones and Mjolnir to their respective timelines, he suddenly reappears as an old man who finally passes down the mantle to his good-old friend, Sam Wilson. This scene capped the perfect ending for Chris Evans, who portrayed Captain America/Steve Rogers all throughout the franchise.

With Evans concluding his duties as Captain America, we are now left with a question: what happens to the new Captain America? Falcon star Anthony Mackie is now expected to carry on the mantle probably sometime soon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, Mackie feels that carrying Cap's legacy is "a huge challenge." In his recent appearance at Celebrity Fan Fest along with Benedict Wong and Lee Pace, Anthony Mackie says that taking over Chris Evans' character would be challenging as Evans has played the role for a number of movies and people may have a huge expectation out of him.

Mackie says, "I love Chris. Chris is an amazing Cap. And I feel like, what he's been able to do with that character, very few people have been able to do in any cinematic universe or span of films. Because he's played Cap for a lot of movies. To take that over, to be a part of that, the legacy of that, is a huge challenge."

The Falcon star also added that "It's something where a lot of people are going to expect me to be Chris Evans in the same suit, but a black dude. And that's definitely not gonna happen."

Although we will sorely miss Chris Evans' portrayal of Steve Rogers/Captain America, seeing Anthony Mackie/Falcon as the new Captain America would be something to look forward to. Both characters are very similar in terms of their views and ideologies about duties and responsibilities to their country and it would be just as interesting to see how Anthony Mackie will flesh out his own version of the new Captain America.

Should you wish to see the epic movie once more, you're in for a treat as Avengers: Endgame will be re-released with extra footage that wasn't seen in its original run two months ago.

Avengers: Endgame is set to come back to theaters next weekend and is expected to overtake Avatar as the top-grossing movie in the world.
