The first season of The Mandalorian had been able to lock down some high-profile directors like Taika Waititi and Rick Famuyiwa, and it looks like the second season is aiming to do the same thing. Just in, we have news that an MCU director has been attached to the show.
According to Murphy's Multiverse, Ant-Man's Peyton Reed is set to direct two episodes of The Mandalorian for the second season. We don't have any more specifics than that, but it's also rumored that Reed's fellow MCU director Taika Waititi is going to be making a return as well; add to that Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Rodriguez.
Though credited as a showrunner, Jon Favreau wasn't actually able to direct any episode of the first season, seeing as he was working on The Lion King. Hopefully this time he gets to be at the helm for the second season.
Going back to Reed's involvement though, I really hope he gets to bring in his own flavor when it comes to Star Wars. I mean, besides Ant-Man, I think he did some good work with Yes Man. I don't know how that would translate to Star Wars, but if Waititi can pull off the finale of the first season, then I'm sure Reed can find a unique voice to The Mandalorian when he takes the helm.
The second season of The Mandalorian is set to premiere on Disney+ this October.
