Ant-Man 3 Director Offers Update on Evangeline Lilly's Role as Wasp

There is little doubt that Evangeline Lilly has had an interesting year after she revealed on social media that she had been refusing to self-isolate during the coronavirus outbreak. But does it mean that the Wasp will no longer be a major part of Ant-Man 3? Director Peyton Reed has shared an update on what will happen to Hope van Dyn in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.

Reed recently spoke to Yahoo! where he discussed his plans for the third Ant-Man film. Interestingly, the filmmaker stated that Ant-Man and the Wasp paved the way for Lilly and Paul Rudd to receive equal billing in the next movie.

"They're a partnership, and she's a very, very important part of that," Reed said. "And that was a very gratifying thing, I guess technically we were the first Marvel movie with a female hero in the title of the movie. Finding that balance in that movie, that's very important to me because that's very much a men's playing field, historically. But that's really, really changing now in a great way."

This shouldn't be a huge surprise considering that Hope is truly coming into her own after the events in the second film. Additionally, she was one of the heroes who fought in Avengers: Endgame so it would make sense for Wasp to continue playing a huge role in the MCU.

Ant-Man 3 has not yet been given an official production start date or an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
