The upcoming anime reboot of Anne of Green Gables titled Anne Shirley is slated to arrive later this year, and fans have been looking forward to hearing about its release window.
This is not the first time that the classic children's novel was adapted into an anime series, but there is still a lot of anticipation since it will have a modern spin and updated animation.
Fortunately, we finally know when it is releasing and the number of episodes that it will have.
Anne Shirley Announces Release Window and Episode Count
The Answer Studio, the studio behind the series, has announced that Anne Shirley is set to begin airing on NHK Educational TV this April 2025.
There are no details yet on whether the series has found its streaming home for the international markets.
It was also revealed that the series will consist of 24 episodes, which means that it will likely cover all eight books in Lucy Maud Montgomery's series of novels.
This is exciting news for fans who might be looking forward to the series, especially now that we know that it is coming sooner than expected and has a supersized number of episodes.
What is Anne Shirley About?
Anne Shirley is a new anime adaptation and modern telling of the classic novel Anne of Green Gables.
In case you're not familiar, Anne of Green Gables centers on the adventures of an 11-year-old orphan girl named Anne Shirley, who is sent by mistake to two middle-aged siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert on a farm in Canada.
The voice cast includes Honoka Inoue, Aya Nakamura, Yatsunori Matsumoto, Naoya Miyase, and Yume Miyamoto. Hiroshi Kawamata directed the new series.
"As the story progresses at a good pace, I hope you will watch how Anne grows up little by little with the help of those around her," Kawamata teased.
"I would also like you to pay attention to the unique characters and the background of Prince Edward Island's rich nature, which is very vividly depicted."
He added, "All the staff are working hard to make this series enjoyable to the end. I hope that through this series, you will become interested in the original work and other content."
