American Horror Story: NYC could see the return of an interesting character from Season 2, Asylum. Fans recently spotted what appears to be none other than the Angel of Death.

Angel of Death Could Appear in American Horror Story: NYC

Despite the fact that there have been many deaths in the series, The Angel of Death hasn't appeared since Season 2. But perhaps now is the right time for her return.

In a teaser for American Horror Story: NYC, keen-eyed Asylum fans noticed the Angel of Death appearing from a misty environment while wearing her trademark all-black outfit.

On Twitter, the American Horror Story fan account The AHS Zone posted a side-by-side comparison of the Angel of Death from Asylum and the shadowy figure from New York City. Although the similarities are eerie, there is one important distinction: Frances Conroy doesn't appear to be reprising her role. It's difficult to determine who has taken over, although the actor portraying the part in NYC appears to be younger.

Who is the Angel of Death?

The Angel of Death, also known as Shachath, is a compassionate entity that comes frequently to Briarcliff Manor, the Catholic asylum in Season 2. She can only be seen by those who are nearing death, but the Angel will not take someone to the other side if they are not ready to die. The Angel kisses them to seal their fate when they are ready to embrace death.

"It was really beautiful to play," Conroy said of her character in 2013, per Clevver News. "She was such an interesting character because she, of course, played such a profound role in each person's given moment."

"So it was more just being a benign presence, helping that person feel comforted, not frightened," she added.

How Would the Angel of Death Appear in American Horror Story: NYC?

It is yet unknown how the Angel of Death will be included in American Horror Story: NYC; perhaps she will offer comfort to the terrified victims who are about to lose their life to the virus or the killer. Hopefully, viewers will also learn quickly if this season has any relevance to Asylum.
