Amazon's The Boys is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes

Amazon's The Boys might just be the superhero palette cleanser everyone needed, poking fun at the archetypes we're all used to and presenting us with a landscape that is obsessed with superhero culture; just like real life. It's based on the epic comic run from legendary writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson, though the series has also moved away from some of the comic's more graphic moments.

Despite some changes in the plot and characters, it has managed to capture the spirit of these comics and has seemingly resulted in a positive reception from critics. Rotten Tomatoes revealed that The Boys is currently at a fresh 79%, which isn't the best score ever but is far from the worst. Basically, if you like or hate superheroes, check this show out.

The Boys is fairly relevant to the times, what with Disney overflowing everything with Marvel-related media. That's not a bad thing but we do need shows like this to show how ridiculous media like this can be and how it shouldn't run our lives. Adding some great social commentary also doesn't hurt, which is probably why the show is such a success right now.

If you haven't yet, check out The Boys on Amazon Prime right now. The entire first season can be streamed right now, with a second season seemingly likely.
