  • Quick Answer: All of Us Are Dead Season 2 finished filming in February 2026, but its omission from Netflix's annual lineup delays the premiere until early 2027.

All of Us Are Dead has been on hiatus for quite some time, and that is actually the reason it has broken a Netflix K-drama record.

Premiering on January 28, 2022, the series was released to great success and even received acclaim for helping revitalize the zombie horror genre.

That said, it’s no surprise that it was renewed for a second season in June 2022. However, with the new season still yet to be released, All of Us Are Dead has now made Netflix K-drama history in the worst way possible.

All of Us Are Dead Season 1 may have saved the students of Hyosan High School from the dangerous zombie outbreak, but its story is far from over, with several loose ends still waiting to be tied up.

However, as fans await the show’s return, nothing has materialized so far. So, what really happened?

The series has experienced several production delays. In fact, in April 2024, Film Monster CEO Park Chul-soo announced that filming was scheduled to begin in 2024, with a planned release in the second half of 2025.

However, Netflix later moved the filming schedule to 2025 for a “better production environment and higher-quality completion.”

By June 2025, Roh Jae-won, Lee Min-jae, Kim Si-eun, Seo Ji-hoon, Yoon Ga-i, Kim Min, Ahn Dong-goo, and Ryu Sung-rok were announced as new cast members for All of Us Are Dead Season 2.

Principal photography then began on July 23 of the same year, and filming officially wrapped up on February 18, 2026.

As many were hoping for a 2026 release, the series was not included in Netflix’s 2026 K-drama lineup.

This suggests it may not arrive until 2027 at the earliest, meaning fans could face a five-year wait for the second season.

K-dramas are known for relatively quick turnaround times, but the same cannot be said for this hit Netflix series. In this industry, new shows are often released the year after filming, while sequels typically do not take much longer.

For example, Gyeongseong Creature and Alchemy of Souls released their seasons in close succession, thanks to pre-production planning. Squid Game, despite its global success, also returned within just three years.

With a five-year gap for All of Us Are Dead Season 2, the series has set a Netflix record–though not in a good way.

What to Expect from All of Us Are Dead Season 2?

All of Us Are Dead

With its lengthy production, All of Us Are Dead Season 2 is expected to be even better than its predecessor.

It may finally answer questions about the “halfbies,” or half-zombie, half-human hybrids, who have been wandering Hyosan since the Season 1 finale.

Unlike the previous season, which was confined to the academy, the world of Nam On-jo (Park Ji-hu) and the rest of the group will be expanded, as the story moves into the open world of Seoul.

In addition, fans may see the returning characters’ arcs develop further after the life-threatening events at their school, as they adjust to surviving in a world still ravaged by a zombie outbreak.

With the long wait, Netflix will need to justify the hiatus with a significantly stronger All of Us Are Dead Season 2.
