Ever since it was reported that Jamie Foxx would be reprising Electro for Spider-Man 3, a lot of speculations have been going around about a Multiverse, and rumors of returning Spider-Men were coming out here and there. We have news of another villain that might actually make a return.
According to The GWW, a source has confirmed that Spider-Man 2's Alfred Molina will be reprising the role of Otto Octavious a.k.a. Doctor Octopus for Spider-Man 3. While we don't have any news on Doc Ock's role, it's said that Molina has already started working on some stunt choreography for the movie, and has already shot some scenes.
Of course, we should take all of this with a grain of salt, but with the rumors that have all been coming out, it would make sense that Sony would want to bring back someone like Molina. He's the villain in what is considered the best entry of the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, and it would be great to see him come back.
While it would be interesting to see all these villains make cameos, I'm hoping that they have more substantial roles in the movie rather than just short appearances. It would be great if they managed to factor in the Sinister Six in the film, but then again, it might take away from the MCU making their own versions of the characters. If the execution is done well though, I'm sure fans won't be complaining.
Spider-Man 3 is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
