Ahsoka continued its focus on the spiritual side of the Force with a Mortis God's Easter egg we loved. But who are the Mortis Gods, really, and what does the Daughter's absence imply?

The Mortis Gods are three deities whom we first encounter in the Clone Wars TV series.

Also known as the Ones, they are three powerful beings who represent different sides of the Force.

The Daughter is an embodiment of the light side, while the Son represents the dark side. As for the Father, he is an incarnation of balance in the Force.

With the Daughter and the Son being in constant conflict, the Father tried hard to strike a balance between them.

Ahsoka, Anakin, and Obi-Wan's arrival in Mortis ended this precarious balance with all three deities presumably dying, although, being gods, they likely still exist in some way.

Abeloth is another Mortis deity whom we've only seen in the extended non-canon Star Wars: Legends universe so far.

She started as a human servant, who was also able to strike a balance between the Daughter's and the Son's conflicting desires, so she came to be known as the Mother.

However, she was still mortal, unlike the rest of her "family."

To stay alive by their side, she drank from the Font of Power and bathed in the Pool of Knowledge (the Son and the Daughter's domains respectively).

Both actions were forbidden and resulted in her turning into an evil chaotic entity known as Abeloth.

Seeing this, the Ones made the devastating choice to imprison her. Now that they're dead, they can no longer prevent Abeloth's return.

In Ahsoka's finale, Baylan Skoll is standing on a giant statue of the Mortis Gods. While the Father and the Son are there, the Daughter is missing.

What the Daughter's absence means is unclear, although it could imply that Peridea is an evil place with no light.

By now, it is clear to most viewers that Baylan is on a quest for a great source of power based on legends he knows.

The finale confirms that he's no longer concerned with people but with gods.

Abeloth isn't mentioned directly in Ahsoka but many fans theorize that Baylan is looking to free Abeloth into the world.

Since he has mentioned that he is after a source of power -- and it's now clear that he never cared for Thrawn -- the Mortis Gods' statues all but confirm a greater evil to come.

Many viewers believe that the Father's statue is pointing toward Abeloth's prison.

The powerful Force entity would be more chaotic than anything we've seen so far and would change the galaxy as we know it.

Perhaps this is why Tharwn and the Nightsisters were desperate to escape Peridea.
