The Eye of Sion, which was mentioned in Ahsoka's two-episode premiere, is a huge, circular, portal-like starship.

It was created by some of the remaining Empire loyalists under the supervision of Morgan Elsbeth, a witch connected to the Nightsisters.

It has been designed to transverse through galaxies. Morgan hopes to use it to rescue Grand Admiral Thrawn, who got stranded in another galaxy by Purrgil led by Ezra Bridger.

In Ahsoka Episode 1 Elsbeth's Force-sensitive mercenaries, Baylen Skoll and his apprentice, Shin Hati steal a star map that contains the secret of Thrawn's location.

Following their success, Morgan explains her plan to find Thrawn, the heir to the Empire, even if it means traveling to another Galaxy.

Not very much is known about the Eye of Sion and its technology, but it's an unseen-before achievement in the Star Wars universe.

After all, Ahsoka broke a major Star Wars rule by breeching the topic of other Galaxies, something that was never done before in any movie or tv series.

The Eye of Sion takes its name from a terrifying Sith lord who is not part of the main Star Wars canon. Darth Sion is a Sith from the time of the Old Sith wars which ended almost 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin.

Darth Sion doesn't appear in any of the movies and shows in the franchise so far.

His debut was in the 2004 video game Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

Sion fought in the Great Sith War. During a battle, an opponent managed to strike him down.

The Sith lord called upon the Force to save him, and he stayed alive to slay more Jedi, at a terrible cost.

Sion became reduced to a zombie-like entity, with cracked, discolored skin. One of his eyes turned into a white void and his existence became one of constant pain and anger.

Darth Sion is very unlikely to appear in the Ahsoka as he isn't alive in the series timeline.

After a miserable, agonizing life, Sion eventually finds a form of redemption, letting go of his hatred.

In his final death, Sion becomes one with the Force. Unless he appears as a Force ghost, there's no realistic way for him to be in Ahsoka.

While possible, a cameo as a Force ghost isn't very likely for him, as he comes from a video game that not many people are familiar with anymore.

The most likely explanation is that Morgan Elsbeth and her followers -- who serve the Empire and the dark side -- are somehow inspired by the legendary Sith -- perhaps it was his blank eye.
