In a 2017 report by Soompi, the 26-year-old star appeared as a guest in KBS' talk show Happy Together, where he was asked about his journey in the industry.
Ahn Hyo Seop recalled when he used to train to become a member of GOT7 and lived with other trainees.
"So when the group was being put together, I was practicing with them. But I wasn't able to join the project team," he said.
The hosts got curious why he didn't pursue joining the group; however, Ahn Hyo Seop explained that he lacked the "talent department," adding that his height had become an issue.
"I was a bit lacking in talent then, and also I was too tall," he said.
It seems like the universe has different plans for him and now, his hard work has paid off after landing lead roles in Thirty But Seventeen, Abyss, Doctor Romantic 2, Lovers of the Red Sky and A Business Proposal.
Aside from his blockbuster series, he also took home recognitions such as Best New Actor at the 56th BaekSang Arts Awards and Excellent Actor at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards, both for his role as medical intern Seo Woo Jin in Doctor Romantic 2.
