Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer has debunked a popular fan theory surrounding the mysterious identity of Joe Locke's Teen.

In the months leading up to the premiere of the new MCU series, fans have been speculating on the identity of Teen as they believe that the character might be revealed as Billy Kaplan later in the run.

The theory ignited further in the two-episode premiere when Teen's mouth sigil was shaped like the letter "M" which fans believe to be an indication that he could be a "Maximoff."

In a recent interview, Schaeffer weighed in on the popular fan theory regarding Teen's identity in Agatha All Along.

She debunked the claims that fans have been making, but she teased that they should pay attention to the other clues.

"This is what I would say: That's not the first place I'd look. It's not entirely irrelevant: But there are other places to look," the showrunner said.

"I don't like hiding things from the audience, just to then be, like, 'Boo!' There's no artistry to that. So when we talked about obscuring who he is, the first question is, why? What is the utility of that?"

Schaeffer continued, "The answer is, it's about the effect that his mystery has on Agatha. What does that do to her? How does it motivate her? How does it hit her emotionally?"

This is an intriguing tease from Schaeffer as it shows that she and her writing team have a lot of secrets and clues in store regarding the series and fans should not only pay attention to one side.

While the signs are saying that Billy Kaplan will be revealed as the real identity of Teen, fans should still consider other possibilities as there is no real assurance yet that the major reveal will happen on the character.

For now, fans should keep their patience and wait for the series to unfold episode-per-episode and we will be able to find out where we have met the MCU's Billy Kaplan.

New episodes of Agatha All Along premiere every Wednesday night on Disney+.
