TV shows with the concept of time travel can often be confusing to understand. This is why we're here to explain the ending of the Kdrama, A Time Called You.
The show followed the difficult journey of a woman, Han Jun-hee (played by Jeon Yeo-been), who tragically lost her boyfriend a year ago. Despite the time, Jun-hee struggles in accepting the loss of Gu Yeon-jun (played by Ahn Hyo-seop).
She suddenly finds that she has traveled back in time as a high schooler called Kwon Min-ju. She meets Nam Si-heon, who looks just like her deceased boyfriend.
As the show progresses, we start to uncover horrible secrets that pose a threat to everyone's lives. And with that, we'll be answering some common questions about the show's ending.
How Is Time Travel Possible in A Time Called You?
At the start of the show, we learn of two different timelines: 1998 and 2023. Si-heon and Min-ju are from 1998 while Yeon-jun and Jun-hee are from 2023.
It's important to note though that Yeon-jun has already died in the first episode.
But how is time travel possible in the series? The show later reveals that people who look the same have the ability to swap bodies.
This is how we learned that Jun-hee is able to swap bodies with Min-ju while Yeon-jun can swap bodies with Si-heon.
Are Min-Ju and Jun-Hee the Same Person?
When the show started, it was unclear whether the two characters were the same. But as the show progressed, we learned that they are two different people.
When Jun-hee travels to 1998, she enters Min-ju's body. Meanwhile, Min-ju gets trapped in her subconscious which looks like an abandoned building.
Even though she is able to see everything happening to her body, she has no control over it. Jun-hee controls Min-ju's body and also has access to her memories. Once Jun-hee travels, Min-ju is able to regain control over her body and trap Jun-hee inside her psyche.
They are able to communicate with each other when the one in control of the body looks into the mirror.
Are Si-Heon and Yeon-Jun the Same Person?
Unlike Min-Ju and Jun-hee, Si-heon and Yeon-jun are the same person. The show later reveals the truth behind this.
When Jun-hee traveled to Min-ju's body in 1998, she met her classmate, Si-heon. She gets emotional as she believes this is her late boyfriend's younger self.
But after considering the fact that Yeon-jun would have been 11 years old in 1998, she junks this theory.
Despite doing so, she can't help but fall in love with Si-heon who has the same mannerisms, voice, face, and other qualities as Yeon-jun. Later, Jun-hee realizes that it's Yeon-jun when she discovers the same painting from Yeon-jun's workshop.
Fast forward to 2023, she meets Si-heon who is now an adult and has a limp and a cane.
After a series of events, Yeon-jun boards a plane where he is destined to die. While Si-heon tries to stop him, he learns that this is necessary so that Jun-hee will go back in time for the first time to meet Si-heon.
The show ends with Si-heon meeting Jun-hee and revealing all these to her.

Why Did Chan-yeong Kill Min-ju?
There is another change in the series of events as Min-ju gets killed together with Byeon Da-hyeon (played by Song Ji-woo) in 1998. It was then revealed that Oh Chan-yeong (played by Min Jin-woong) killed the two in Noksan.
Chan-yeong has always been a psychopath. When Yeon-jun dies, Chan-yeong takes over the workshop and becomes Jun-hee's friend.
After meeting Si-heon in 2023, Jun-hee confides to Chan-yeong about the time-travels and the murders in 1998. Curious about things, he uses Jun-hee's cassette player and gets transported to his older brother's body, Oh Chan-hui.
On the night Min-ju runs away from home, Chan-yeong walks her home. Knowing it was her classmate, Chan-hui, Min-ju lets him.
But on the way, he attacks her and ends up hitting her head. Unfortunately, he is unable to kill her since Jun-hee has woken him up.
He starts to strangle Jun-hee and reveals that he killed Min-ju and Da-hyeon. Thankfully, Si-heon is able to arrive in time and help her.
Chan-yeong stabs Si-heon to death and escapes with the diary and cassette player. Together with the police, they find and arrest Chan-yeong. And this is just in time since he was about to kill Min-ju.
Prior to getting arrested, Chan-yeong breaks the cassette player. Jun-hee gets this repaired and uses it one more time.
As she travels back in time, she gets trapped in the mind of Min-ju. Since Si-heon does not accept Min-ju, she becomes devastated. She decides to go to Chan-yeong so people can remember her as a victim.
Unfortunately for her, Chan-yeong is unable to kill her. Still, she is determined to kill herself even with Jun-hee trapped in her mind. She jumps off the building and Jun-hee gets transported to 2023 again.
She tries to get the tape fixed once again but is told that it won't play anymore. She wishes it would play one last time and it happens.
This allows her to go back to Min-ju's body right before she falls. As a result, she delays Min-ju's suicide and allows In-gyu (played by Kang Hoon) to save her.
Jun-hee talks to Min-ju and advices her to live for herself and not care what other people think. She then hands In-gyu the cassette player so he can burn it. This way, she and Si-heon would never meet.
The two spend time together knowing it would be their last time together. They had to let go of the cassette player so that Min-ju would be safe and Chan-yeong wouldn't be able to travel back in time.
As the cassette tape and player are destroyed, the two turn into dust as well.
Do Si-Heon and Jun-Hee End Up Together?
Fast forward to 2011, Si-heon already works for a comics publication company. Since the cassette player was destroyed, he doesn't know who Jun-hee is.
One day, they come across each other while riding the same bus. They are both listening to the same Seo Ji-won song.
Something urges Si-heon to get off the bus when Jun-hee does. Just before he says something, the screen turns black.
This implies that Jun-hee and Si-heon managed to find each other just as they promised.
While the ending is open for interpretation, we'd like to believe that the two were destined to be together and found their way back.
