- Quick Answer: Season 2 will focus on a shifting, expansive road-trip structure through Westeros as Dunk and Egg navigate the drought-stricken Reach and local noble rivalries.
Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall (Peter Claffey) and Prince Aegon, aka Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), are set to return in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2, but things will be very different from the first season, according to returning director Owen Harris.
The previous season ended with Dunk and Egg setting off together for Dorne after Dunk successfully won his Trial of Seven against Prince Aerion (Finn Bennett).
So, with their journey continuing, how will this shift the direction of the second season?
What will be the Theme of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2?

As A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will see Dunk and Egg on the move, Owen Harris revealed that the show will shift its focus to become “a little more of a road movie.”
While the first season featured several locations, including Ashford Meadow and Flea Bottom, it was largely centered around a single major setting. By contrast, the new season will expand its scope and scale.
"In some aspects, it might feel bigger," Harris told Awards Buzz. "But in others, the story itself, it's just different. It's very different."
To avoid repeating what they had already created in the first season, Harris explained that the creative team wanted “to do something different” this time around.
“It's just different. It's very different. You can't repeat Season 1,” he continued. “You've got to do something different.”
Thanks to George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, on which the series is based, the creative team is able to tell a story with a distinct “flavor” each season while giving the two lead characters time to develop their arcs and explore “what they mean to each other.”
So far, the acclaimed author has written three Dunk and Egg novellas. The first, The Hedge Knight, was adapted for Season 1, while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will adapt the second novella, The Sworn Sword, which will see the pair traveling to new locations.
However, Harris promised that the series will retain the warmth and humor that fans loved about the first season.
“It is tonally a little bit different as well,” he added. “But you've still got lots of the warmth and the humor and the drama and the ups and the downs. You've got all of that, but it's different.”
What to Expect from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2?

Adapting The Sworn Sword, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will see Dunk enter the service of Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast after spending a year in Dorne searching for the puppeteer Tanselle (Tanzyn Crawford).
Later, Dunk and Egg become entangled in the schemes of the local nobility, dealing with disputes over a dam, an inheritance, and even suitors vying for the attention of a local lady.
However, as HBO changed several elements from the source material in the first season, the same could happen in the next installment.
Since Dorne plays a major role in the history of Westeros and was previously featured in Game of Thrones, fans may get to see more of the region in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 when it arrives on screens in 2027.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 is available to stream on HBO Max.
