5 Reasons Why We're More Excited For Hawkeye Than Any Other Marvel Show

With Christmas just around the corner (well, sort of), why not unwrap an early treat in the form of the brand-new trailer for Marvel's Hawkeye series? Yes, Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) has hit the Internet today, like an arrow hits its target, and Marvel fans couldn't be more excited for the new series to start streaming this December.

But are you feeling a little confused as to why we're referencing Christmas when talking about the new trailer for the latest MCU series? Well, just check out the trailer below and find out why!

While we're sure things aren't going to be smooth-sailing for Clint where Christmas is concerned, the trailer certainly promises a far more uplifting affair, while the likes of WandaVision and Loki dealt with things like grief, along with some pretty existential conundrums. In fact, if we were to pair it with anything, it would be The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, as it oozes some spy-like sequences, while also focusing on an Avenger who's far more human than most of the others in his company.

Clint Barton

He may have taken quite some getting used to - which is no surprise considering he stood alongside the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Hulk - but we love Hawkeye, and we love Jeremy Renner too, who plays the role perfectly. After all, he's easily the most relatable Avenger, considering he has no superpowers (despite having an unnaturally keen eye for targets). But on this occasion, we're excited to see his return because it looks like he's having a whole lot of fun in the new trailer, which doesn't appear to take itself at all too seriously.

Kate Bishop

Newcomer Hailee Steinfeld will be playing Kate Bishop, another highly skilled archer who refers to herself as "The World's Greatest Archer" - although it's likely her new mentor Clint will be putting her skills to the test. The actress has described her new role as "smart and witty" and a "badass". Whether or not she will be taking on the mantle of Hawkeye remains to be seen, but as the show is a limited series, just like WandaVision, Loki and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, this is a huge possibility.

Yelena Belova

While she's nowhere to be seen in the trailer, Black Widow's Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) has been confirmed to be making an appearance in the upcoming Hawkeye series. The character was instantly loved by fans, following her performance in the Scarlett Johansson-led MCU movie. For those unfamiliar, Belova is a highly-skilled spy and sister-of-sorts to Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow). It is said that she will be hunting Clint Barton in the new show, for the 'role' he played in Natasha's death in Avengers: Endgame.

Rogers The Musical

We get two glimpses of 'Rogers The Musical' in the new trailer, with the first being a series of billboards that adorn the theater where the show is playing, and the second being a shot of the musical itself, which shows onstage actors portraying the likes of Captain America, Loki, and Thor. There's just no way we can't get excited for a musical version of the Avengers, and until we see it, we'll be wondering whether the show will act like a parody of sorts, or more of a tribute, considering the world lost three Avengers in Endgame.

It's Christmas

Not only is the trailer stuffed (like a turkey) full of action sequences and references to the Avengers movies, it's also bursting at the seams with festive feels, from Andy Williams' "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" to the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree (suddenly thinking of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York?). There are whistling winds, steady snowfall, and fairy lights at every turn, and the choice to set the show in New York at this time of year is ingenious.

Hawkeye starts streaming on Disney+ on November 24.
