It appears to be an understatement to describe 2NE1 as one of the most influential and successful girl groups in the K-pop scene. As reported, many even deem the quartet as pioneers who have “rewritten history” in the industry.
Throughout the nine years of their active status in South Korean entertainment, they repeatedly broke records in the music space. This does not only apply to the local scene as they also had international breakthroughs.
These are some of the reasons why the group’s disbandment became a total shock in 2016. It still raises a lot of questions these days as no one knows the real reason behind the act’s exit.
While speculations continue to emerge even five years later, the buzz surrounding the matter has become more apparent in recent weeks. Koreaboo, then, released a report, revealing the latest assertions about 2NE1’s disbandment.
YG Entertainment Reportedly "Gave Up" On 2NE1
Reporter Lee Jin Ho recently dropped bombshell accusations about the issue. In one of his latest videos, he shared what he reportedly referred to as “insider intel” about the group’s disbandment.
He told his audience that after Minzy’s exit earlier in 2016, the three remaining members planned to continue their group ventures. CL, Dara, and Park Bom even reportedly prepared for their comeback before news of official disbandment came to light.
Lee Jin Ho continued that YG Entertainment had a “difficult time” controlling one of the members. The unnamed idol could not allegedly make up her mind, leading the label to ultimately “give up” on 2NE1.
The reporter, later on, claimed, as well, that, with the disbandment of the I Don’t Care artists, the agency pushed the debut of BLACKPINK on a much earlier time frame.
CL Made A Shocking Revelation About Disbandment
The latest buzz surrounding the controversy made it into the center of the spotlight following former member CL’s interview with AP Entertainment. She made a shocking revelation, saying that she only learned about the disbandment through the media.
Soompi noted that the interviewer asked the group’s rapper about the issue because Minzy also shared the same thing in her previous interview. As concluded, the members of 2NE1 did know about their disbandment until they heard from the news.
