World War Z Sequel Moves Forward With Director David Fincher

It's finally coming, and it's bringing in what could be the best director to work on the project.

After making fans wait for so long in gathering the behind-the-camera team, World War z's sequel has finally been greenlit. Variety reported that Brad Pitt has managed to loop in David Fincher as director.

It seems like the new chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos made this possible, as per unnamed sources. Oddly enough, the chairman himself hasn't officially greenlit the movie, but is expected to do it sometime in the coming weeks. That's because there's already a production window pegged to begin during the first quarter of 2018.

Fincher's name as director isn't really a surprise. He was one of the names that have been tagged to the production, with Pitt doing all he can to secure him for the director's chair. It's also not surprising, given his history of projects with Pitt—among which is my favorite, Fight Club.

The good thing here is that World War Z's sequel is back on track and on the map and calendar of the studio. Previously, both personal and studio-related issues have taken it off, with no sure dates for even production to begin. I guess it's also good that Gianopulos also has a good business relationship with Fincher, the most reminiscent of which is Gone Girl.

We'll have to see what this reunion will bring. I'm very positive about whatever Pitt and Fincher will put to the table—yes, even if sequels aren't really Fincher's thing at the moment.
