Wonder Woman 2 Starts Production June 2018; Chris Pine Possibly Returning

After three of its first movies turned out to be duds, the DCEU finally got its first hit with the release of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman. The sequel is set to come out December 2019, and as of now the film has a date that would mark the beginning of production.

According to CBR, Wonder Woman 2 is set to start shooting in June of next year. There are also rumors suggesting that Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) will be returning for the sequel, but so far nothing has been confirmed. I can imagine he's going to appear as Steve in a flashback or he could possibly play a relative of Steve, like his grandson.

We don't know much about the full story of the Wonder Woman sequel, but we do know that the film is also another period piece that is set during the Cold War era. With Diane clearly in hiding from her superhero-ing in Batman v Superman, I'm guessing this film will explain as to why she hangs up the tiara and lasso when we meet her in BvS.

Then again, I can also imagine the movie as a way to show how Diana is adapting to the modern world out of Themyscira. After all, there are other ways to be a woman role model without having to punch bad guys.

Wonder Woman 2 is slated for a release on Dec. 13, 2019.
