Val Kilmer Says He’d “Love To” Return As Batman

Though a lot of fans are loving Ben Affleck's version of the Dark Knight in Warner Bros.' developing DC Expanded Universe, it seems like a former Batman is still interested in taking back his cowl.

Though Val Kilmer only played Bruce Wayne once in the 1995 Batman Forever, it seems like Top Gun action star is still pretty interested in reprising his role as the Caped Crusader in a future Batman movie. Asked by a fan on a recent AMA Reddit session whether he'd would be open to playing Batman again in another DC movie, Kilmer went up and responded a direct "love to."

Though he didn't elaborate on his answer, fans responded positively, with some saying that Kilmer would play a better Batman than Michael Keaton, another star whose name has been brought up in other threads were fans throw in their preferred actors for the Dark Knight.

Sure Batman Forever ended up having mixed reviews with most critics shooting down the film for its excessive commercialism and its poorly written script, however some believe that if given the chance, Kilmer could have possibly lived up to the role.

While Kilmer's desire to return as Batman is all well and good, it seems very unlikely that DC or Warner Bros. would be able to find a place for him as the Dark Knight in the DCEU. Affleck already has the part and a lot of fans enjoy his portrayal of Bruce Wayne. Kilmer will probably just have to wait his turn again if he's ever to put on the cowl.

Affleck's Batman will return to the big screen with Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher in Justice League which premieres on Nov. 17, 2017.
