X-Men: Apocalypse Star Recounts Bryan Singer’s Negligence and Absences

There might be many different reasons why X-Men: Apocalypse didn't do so well when it released back in 2016, however, there have been many reports pining the film's failings to the lack of attention that director Bryan Singer gave the comic book movie.

Now, it looks like Apocalypse star Olivia Munn has decided to share a few details about what went on during the production of the X-Men movie.

Speaking in an interview with Variety, Munn decided to talk about what Singer did while working on Apocalypse. According to the actress, she wasn't really familiar with shooting blockbuster movies, and she didn't really understand what went wrong during the production of the X-Men installment. Her biggest question about the production, however, was Singer's absence from set, something that he claimed to be a thyroid issue that would force him to leave the set of Apocalypse for more than a week at a time.

"When we shot X-Men, I never shot a huge movie like that before. I didn't know what was right or wrong, but I did know that it seems strange that Bryan Singer could check out and say he had a thyroid issue," Munn told the entertainment news outlet, "Instead of going to a doctor in Montreal, which is a very high-level, working city, he said he had to go to L.A. And he was gone for about 10 days is my recollection. And he said, 'Continue. Keep filming.' We'd be on set, I remember there's a big scene that we'd have, and we'd come back from lunch and then one of Bryan's assistants would come up and show us a cell phone with a text message on it."

According to the actress, Singer would text the cast and crew that he would have to take time off set because he was busy and that everyone should go on filming without him. Munn didn't really understand that comic book movies weren't supposed to work that way, though she felt that none of what Singer was doing was normal.

Based on Munn's anecdote, it seems like Singer really didn't put that much effort into Apocalypse. Now, it only seems right that Fox blames the film's failings on the director.
