Mike Colter On Whether He’d Play Luke Cage After The Big Netflix Cancellation

Marvel fans were devastated when Netflix decided to cancel all of its different Marvel Television series. Shows like Daredevil and Luke Cage had pretty strong followings, and many were heartbroken to hear that the streaming giant had decided to ax the series right after the release of new seasons.

Still, fans continue to hope to see New York's Defenders return. Many are hoping that Marvel TV's different shows find a new home in Disney's upcoming streaming site, Disney+. They aren't the only ones hoping to see Marvel TV's Netflix heroes make a comeback though. Luke Cage star Mike Colter also wants to return, this time for a third season.

Speaking with critics after a Television Critics Association summer press tour panel for his upcoming series on CBS, Evil, Colter decided to open up about what a potential return as Harlem's hero would mean to him (via Cinema Blend).

"I'd really need to see where he's going and what the storyline would be. I still have -- everyone has -- questions about where he was gonna go in Season 3. At this point, we'd be starting, not from scratch but I would need to see where he was going you know?" Colter said during the panel, "Because as an actor we're always looking to do different things. So, as long as you're gainfully employed and doing something that stimulates you, you're not always looking in your rearview mirror trying to figure out what else you could be doing with a character you've already played."

As eager as Colter seems to be to reprise his role as Luke Cage, fans ought to be reminded that it might take some time before Marvel TV's series ever find a new home. Disney+ and Hulu might be pretty great options for series like Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones, but all of Marvel TV's different Netflix shows are under a contract that stipulates that the series can't head to another network until two years after cancellation. It's all about waiting, really.

Marvel's biggest film of the year, Avengers: Endgame, is currently available on Digital HD.
