The Walking Dead Season 7 Synopsis Readies The Gang For a Fight

Fans wanted a war against The Big Bad Bully, and now they have one. When the back half of The Walking Dead season 7 returns, that is.

Earlier, Rick and gang were snapped in Gregory's study, all looking fierce instead of the embarrassed lot that they were before the midseason finale.

We saw Maggie sort of taking charge for a second, but in a new set of official photos from AMC (via Entertainment Weekly), it seems that Rick finally got his game face on again.

The images show what appears to be a group meeting and a rally to fight, with the central Survivors round the proverbial table. In another image, Rick is leading with his signature gun-at-the-ready pose with Michonne, Aaron, and Tara taking up the rear.

AMC has also released the synopsis for the return episode.

"The second half of the season will focus on preparing for war and gathering the supplies and numbers to take Negan down once and for all. Rick's group will find out yet again that the world isn't what they thought it was. It's much bigger than anything they've seen so far. While they have a singular purpose--to defeat Negan--it won't come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed."

Hence the call to hunt for supplies and whatever remaining weapons there are in the world. There will also be new fighters, but more interesting is the tease of "treachery from the people we trust." And just when we thought that last scene reunion meant a single beating heart for the group.

The Walking Dead will return to AMC on Feb. 12 for the next half of season 7.
