The Live-Action Fullmetal Alchemist Movie is Now Streaming on Netflix


If you're a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist, one of the greatest anime franchises ever made, then you might want to watch the Japanese live-action version that's now streaming on Netflix; If you're not a fan, watch it anyway, though we still suggest you watch the whole anime series when you get the chance. In recent weeks, the streaming service has been promoting the live-action feature with a new trailer and poster, and now, you can finally steam it online.

The film has been well-received in Japan, though the reviews have been mixed. While the general consensus of critics isn't so good, fans seemed to have enjoyed the film.

Directed by Fumihiko Sori, the film takes place in an alternate reality 20th century where alchemy is real. The story follows Edward (Ryosuke Yamada) and Alphonse Elric (voiced by Atomu Mizuishi) who, after trying the forbidden technique of human transmutation, suffer the deadly consequences. Edward loses his left leg and right arm while Alphonse loses an entire body. Edward sacrificed his right arm to save his brother's soul by attaching it to a metal armor. Edward is given metal prosthetics to replace his arm and leg. The Elric brothers embark on a journey to find the legendary Philosopher's Stone.
